Selected work

A technical director’s work is hard to show in a photograph, so for each project I wrote down what it took technically.

Festivals and city projects

Perm

Flahertiana International Documentary Film Festival

Technical director

A documentary festival, international since 2006. International jury, FIPRESCI jury, a national competition, a forum with pitching sessions, seminars and masterclasses. Technically that means several venues and screening rooms on one schedule, each with its own sound, projection and stage requirements.

Perm

LAMPA International Film Festival

An impact-cinema festival, held in Perm since 2014. Films from it have been screened and discussed at the UN headquarters in New York and the UN office in Geneva. The programme mixes screenings with workshops and talks, so the rooms switch between film playback and live presentation all day.

Perm

City of Meetings festival

The main project of Perm’s 300th-anniversary programme, launched in 2023. Over two seasons it grew to 25 events, with an audience above 580,000 and 2.9 million views online. The festival city on the esplanade runs all summer: open-air stages, weather, and infrastructure that has to stand for weeks.

Conferences

WTC Congress Centre, Moscow · 7–9 May 2026

RCCEF Conference

Technical director

Five rooms running at the same time. The main hall had a full stage build and a large LED wall whose geometry we reworked several times to fit the venue. Eight rigging points, with floor loads approved by the building’s engineering department. A separate wired line backstage, interpretation for foreign guests across all three days, haze cleared on paper, and a load-in that had to fit the venue’s window.

MEDIALIVE

Technical director

Planned from the venue’s architectural drawings and 3D models. Stage, screen structures, FOH and technical positions, seating, exhibitor stands in the foyer, podiums at two heights, power. The local network and Wi-Fi were set up and handed over to the organisers.

PASSWORD

A national youth convention: three days of morning prayers, main sessions, masterclasses and an evening of praise. The technical problem here is turnaround. The same room has to handle a speaker, a workshop and a full band within a few hours.

MECHTAY

A conference with a large online part. The programme runs in the hall and goes out as a stream at the same time, so the stream needs its own mix and its own sends rather than a feed off the PA.

Perm

Night of Praise

A worship night. One long programme without breaks into separate numbers, with the band on stage almost the whole time. Everything rests on monitors and in-ears, and there is no pause to fix anything in.

Sound, show file

I prepared the system and the console file so the visiting engineer could start working straight away instead of rebuilding a patch. After one of the shows I kept working on the file at home, fixing patch and layout so the crew at the next venue would load a corrected show file.

NUTEKI

Concert production

A stadium. Long cable runs, departments that cannot work on their own, and a different cost of error. Sound, lighting, video and playback have to be run as one system here.

New Testament Church

Technical director

The church where I became technical director at twenty. About 4,500 members, services running since 1991. A hall that size works every week, and the habits I still keep came from there: a system the team can run without me, documentation you can follow without calling anyone, and show files ready to hand over.

FAITH Church Israel

Technical lead

A system that has to work every week, run by a team with mixed experience, and keep growing at the same time. There are several sites, so the second one cannot be built from scratch. We standardise equipment, show files, presentation templates, patch and network conventions, so a new room starts with what already works. Designing the technical side of a new hall is part of this too.
